Test cycle statuses

The status of a Test cycle shows which phase a Test cycle is in. The following statuses are distinguished:

  • Not started - This is the initial status of a new Test cycle. The Test cycle has not been started yet, no testing activities have been performed.
  • Started - When the test activities in a Test cycle have started then the status of the Test cycle automatically changes to Started. It is also possible to manually change the status to Started.
  • Completed - When a Test cycle has ended then the status must be manually changed to Completed.
  • Cancelled - It is possible to manually change the status of a Test cycle to Cancelled.
  • Processed in Masterlist - After completion (or cancellation) of a Test cycle , the status can be manually changed to Processed in Masterlist. This is the last status of a Test cycle indicating that the content of the Test cycle has been written to the Masterlist. After writing the content to the Masterlist, the system will ask if the status needs to be changed to Processed in Masterlist.

The Test cycle status is used in several places within Testersuite . For example, to determine whether a Test cycle is shown on the Dashboard, see: Dashboard (home) and in the drop-down list near the Active Test cycle field , at the top of the main menu. (see: Screens and navigation). For each status, the function for writing content to the master list is available (see also: Writing content to the master list).

Icon ExplanationThe status is automatically updated to Started if a test case, test scenario, test run, or defect is created or modified in the Test cycle .
